LGBTQ community faces constant judgement
December 11, 2018
In the US 4.5% of adults are in the L.G.B.T.Q community. Nowadays more and more teens are coming out to their families and friends.
With more people feeling comfortable identifying as LGBT, most people are happy for them and will have their arms open for them. On the other hand some may not agree. People will protest and post things on social media saying how being in the LGBTQ is “bad” and that everyone in it is “wrong” for thinking like that.
“It will get better and don’t change for anyone,” said Kamryn Clay, seventh grade athlete.
There’s so many people that are opposed to the idea of L.G.B.T.Q. And they believe at such a young age it’s wrong and so they go to everyone saying it’s bad. But they should treat the people in the community like any other ordinary person.
“Because they grew up in a family that believes in ‘Adam and Eve.’ they’re taught at such a young age that they forget they’re humans too and it’s okay to be in L.G.B.T.Q community,” said Camila Wilson, tenth grader.
In one’s person’s life they feel like they’re alone and that they are not accepted. When people in the community feel like this, it can lead to depression and in some cases, even worse things. There are still many people in support groups that talk to their friends about their struggles and help each other with struggles they may all face.
“Yes I think the world that we live in is starting to become more okay with the fact that you’re in the LGBTQ community. Yes I feel like the community has some resources but not enough, especially at school. I think it would be nice if they had a place in school to go to and feel somewhat better from everything that could possibly happen to them in their life if they already came out,” said 10th grader Camila Wilson.
